Spurred by an overwhelming urge to create, New Zealand writer Kathy Servian achieved an Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design, followed up by a twenty year career in the fashion industry and a crafting habit Martha Stewart would be proud of.

She then discovered a love of teaching – passing on all those year of learned skills – design, pattern-making, sewing, Art Clay Silver, screen-printing and machine embroidery.

Ready for a new challenge, Kathy decided to see if she could make the transition from ‘telling’ a good story, to ‘writing’ one.

The project turned into a passion for writing. A strong believer in the technical being as important as the creative, Kathy is currently completing a Diploma in Applied Writing – which she squeezes in between family life and teaching. (And yes, she did complete the novel – it’s currently in editing).
